Brandon received a BS in horticulture from Temple University, an MS in plant breeding from North Carolina State University, and a PhD in controlled environment horticulture from North Carolina State University.
A big component of his PhD work focused on horticultural light for indoor environments and how lighting environments can optimize plant growth. Joining us over ZOOM, Brandon’s presentation will focus on growing begonias under horticultural lights. He writes "Today, there are endless options for horticulture grow lights
for our plants, and selecting the right lighting system can be challenging. In my talk, I will discuss what is important to consider when growing begonias under lights and how we can optimize our growing from a lighting perspective."
October 14, 2023 - program entitled “Through the Looking Glass” will be presented by Tricia
McCann. Her program will introduce, clarify and allow attendees to master terminology necessary to provide botanical descriptions of your begonias. This will be a hands on activity so bring a plant, a leaf or a picture of one of your begonias along with a pencil and, if available, a magnifier. It promises to be a very informative and educational meeting.
