Buxton 2024 EXHIBITION Show Rules
BUXTON BEGONIA PLANT SHOW 2024
NEW ENGLAND BOTANIC GARDEN AT TOWER HILL
CLASS RULES
If this is the first time you are considering entering a plant show, please do not hesitate! This can be lots of fun, and our members will be available to help you and guide you through the process. So don't hesitate to show off all of your hard work nurturing a begonia!!
As plants are brought in for entry into the show, they should have been pre-registered, or a complete entry form must be presented. The plant will first be inspected for clean health/bug check, then if not pre-registered, the entry form must be verified and signed off to make sure each plant has been identified correctly and has been entered in the correct Show Class to be displayed properly, and to be photographed.
Please do not hesitate to approach a Buxton Branch of ABS Member with any questions you may have. They will be identified by a green apron and a Buxton badge listing their names and are more than happy to help!
Please remove any labels, any artificial material, very noticeable plant support, dead or broken leaves, or spent flowers from your plants, and clean the pots or wipe the containers prior to submission. We provide clear plastic plates so no need to provide a saucer under your plant pots.
Buxton’s 2024 Begonia Exhibit and Plant Sale will again be presenting begonias separately in two groups: (1) species and (2) cultivars/hybrids.
We particularly encourage first-time exhibitors. No specific pots or containers are required in this non-judged event; just healthy, pest-free, well-grown Begonias.
ENTRIES:
This is an un-judged exhibition, for the public’s education only. The exhibition is not a sanctioned American Begonia Society show.
AWARDS:
There will be one award given, The People’s Choice Award, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places given. These will be chosen by the public and placed Sunday 22nd at 3:00pm.

- The Educational Species Exhibit organizes species geographically according to their native country or continent. We take.visitors on a deeper dive into the Begonia world, sharing information about where the different species originate, their remarkable habitats and conservation status, and growing tips from our experience. This exhibit drew heightened attention at the 2023 Show and we’re excited to build upon that success in 2024.
- Cultivars/hybrids organized by traditional Division/Class. (Growers have the option to exhibit species here, as well.)
