We are the Buxton Branch of the American Begonia Society, a non-profit 501c3 horticultural organization that celebrated its 85th anniversary in 2023. We share knowledge and promote begonia culture, propagation, and conservation. With membership from New England and beyond, we welcome all lovers of begonias.
Members of the Buxton Branch enjoy:
We typically meet the first Saturday of September through May from 9:30AM to 12:00PM. All are invited to attend one of our meetings, enjoy a refreshment, and talk Begonias!
When you join the Buxton Branch you will also join our national parent organization, the American Begonia Society (ABS).

To Join Buxton and the American Begonia Society
Dues can be paid as follows:
$45 – for a one-year Buxton membership and one-year American Begonia Society (ABS) membership. This includes both print and digital copies of the ABS journal The Begonian.
$30 – for a one-year Buxton membership and one-year American Begonia Society membership that includes digital only copies of the ABS journal.
$10 – for a one-year Buxton membership only. This is for those who are already ABS members or pay their ABS dues separately. Buxton membership is for the calendar year and is renewed annually by December 31 st .

Members of the Buxton Branch enjoy:
- Being part of a community that welcomes everyone - from those who just discovered begonias to the expert growers.
- Monthly hybrid meetings held on-site in eastern Massachusetts and over Zoom. Lectures and hands-on workshops focus on begonia cultivation, propagation, conservation, pest management, terrarium culture and other topics of interest. We also learn from each other through our Plant-of-the-Month and Ask the Expert discussions.
- Expanding our begonia collections with member-grown and hard to find healthy begonia species and cultivars during plant swaps and sales at our meetings.
- Participating in Buxton’s Annual Show and Sale at the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill. It’s a fun weekend when members and non-members are encouraged to exhibit their begonias.
- Member-hosted social events such as the summer picnic in June and the holiday party in December.
- The Buxtonian, a digital newsletter about our meetings and activities, begonia cultivation, and other news of interest to members.
